Are you a slave to technology miles away from home? Here’s how to break the chains.

Are you addicted to tech? Photo by Adrian Sampson
As travelers, we like to think of ourselves as intrepid, independent, and adaptive. We forgo modern comforts in return for experiences and relationships that are difficult to find within our own societies.
Many of us are trying to find answers, find a purpose, or find ourselves, away from the ???noise??? of daily lives which have become mundane and unfulfilling.

The decision to travel with our children was not one my husband and I took lightly. We both had always wanted to travel, but I was too scared to take the leap of faith.
As parents we wanted our children to experience what the world had to offer.
Our family had also been through an extremely tough time before our trip. We had experienced death and change on a profound scale, and our marriage had only just managed to survive.

Your dreams on the road can offer insight into yourself and your journey. Tim Patterson shares his own experiences.
I press my tongue against a tooth in the back of my mouth. It wiggles.
“That’s weird,” I think, feeling a little anxious. After all, I’m 25 years old. My baby teeth are all gone and I’m way too young to start thinking about dentures.

I work in the publishing industry, and I’m also an avid reader - so it’s no wonder I??ve been knee deep in Kindle speculation for the past few weeks.
Kindle is Amazon??s new portable reading device; it??s smaller and lighter than a book and it holds over 200 titles.
Other companies have launched similar, relatively unsuccessful products in the past but Kindle??s connection to bookselling giant Amazon is making people wonder whether this could be the device that actually redefines how we read.

The internet has totally changed travel. It has made it easy to keep in touch with people back home as well as keep up with what is going on around the world.
For some, this can be overwhelming. Here are some tips I’ve discovered from traveling with a laptop for the last seven months. While many of these are laptop specific, some will be useful even if you only visit an internet cafe occasionally.

“After spending all that time traveling half-way around the world, what have you learned?”
I lean back in my armchair and contemplate this important inquiry that I am so often confronted with since returning back home to the US after a long journey.
Trying to come up with a coherent response to this seemingly overwhelming and complex question, my head drifts back, eyes shut, and I think back to the past eight months on the road.

There are more than 70 million grandparents in the United States and many of them have a passion for travel, providing an incredible opportunity to share this love with the grandchildren. Travel and lifestyle expert Nan Zimmerman has partnered with BoomerTowne.com, an informational Web site for baby boomers. As a member of the BoomerTowne Council, Zimmerman has advice for any adult traveling with younger children, including grandparents who might not do it frequently.
