Hopefully, you answered with a resounding “YES” to that question being that I intended for it to be

It’s always a good time to go to the Caribbean ~ am I right?

rhetorical…  I have only been to the Mexican side of the Caribbean and not to the many other destinations like St. John, USVI and Tortola, BVI.  Like Mexico, the United States Virgin Islands and the British Virgin Islands have much beauty and ancient history to be explored.

I call it the People Chain. It’s like Facebook, offline, with edge.

The idea is to get random contacts in random places and see where it leads you. Might be a palace, might be a dark alley, but knowing anyone here who knows anyone there usually leads everywhere.

It’s always Tee Time in Myrtle Beach

It’s always Tee Time in Myrtle Beach

Heading to Myrtle Beach’s Grand Strand and looking to play some golf while you are there?  With over 70 golf courses to choose from every kind of golfer can find his or her match.  Most of the golf courses consist of water hazards and plenty of sand bunkers to make the game even more interesting.

The Man O’ War course boasts of back to back island greens and water on mostly every hole.  Contrary to most coastal golf courses where the layout is flat the Glen Dornoch course actually has high undulations built into the course to create shot-making at its’ finest.  Myrtle Beach also is home to a TPC (Tournament Players Championship) course that allows the amateur golfer to play where the pros play.

7 MORE Common Mistakes Of First-Time Backpackers

I’m writing from behind the reception desk here at El Diablo Tranquilo hostel in Punta del Diablo, Uruguay.

Every day a new group of travelers arrives in this chill little beach town. Some are seasoned solo travelers, like the sea captain who cleaned out a group of earnest Swedes in Texas Hold ‘Em last night, or the Alaskan mountain guide who winters in South America. Others are backpackers, traveling in groups, red-faced under their massive mochillas.

The 50 Most Inspiring Travel Quotes Of All Time

The 50 Most Inspiring Travel Quotes Of All Time

Editor’s Introduction - Tim Patterson: I’m typing on the deck of a hostel in a little Uruguayan surf town called Punta del Diablo.

Travelers are chatting around me; the usual conversation about where they came from and where they’re going next. Down on the beach, surfers are catching the last waves of the day and men driving horse-drawn carts haul firewood into town.

Tulip Time in Holland Michigan

I have dreams of peddling leisurely through endless fields of blooming tulips. Windmills dot the horizon and water is always close by. Yes, I could go to Holland to satisfy this vacation fantasy or I could get a really authentic taste of tulip time in Holland, Michigan.

The settlement was established by a group of Dutch families in 1847 and hundreds followed them soon afterwards. Every fiber of Holland Michigan is steeped in Dutch heritage, so this is the real deal and not a marketing gimmick to bring in tourists.

Downtown Holland has an historic, yet vibrant feel, with street performers, art galleries, interesting shopping, plenty of great restaurants and frequent festivals. Without a doubt, the most celebrated annual event is Tulip Tme Festival!

One Traveler?s Quest For The Ultimate Backpack

One Traveler?s Quest For The Ultimate Backpack

The single greatest piece of advice I heard prior to my first vagabonding excursion was to pack my bag, then remove half the stuff and leave it behind.

As with all good advice, I only admired the lesson after I had failed to heed it. Lugging a heavy pack through border crossings and train stations, only then did I ask myself two questions:

Hot Times In Glenwood Springs

Hot Times In Glenwood Springs

Sometimes we forget about all the really cool things there are to do right in our own home towns. Some of the best travel adventures I have are when I’m turning out of town visitors on to my turf, Glenwood Springs, Colorado.

My town sits at the confluence of the the Roaring Fork and Colorado Rivers right along Interstate 70 at the western end of Glenwood Canyon. Without a doubt our most famous tourist attraction in the Glenwood Hot Springs, the largest natural hot springs pool in the entire world.
