A mile long and 2 blocks wide, so you’re never more than a block from salt water-that’s Dewey Beach Delaware, perhaps the skinniest town ever! You can walk to the rambunctious Atlantic Ocean or the more tranquil Rehoboth Bay in just a couple of minutes from anywhere in town. You can’t get much closer to the sea without actually being on a boat.
If you prefer to travel north or south along the coast, the good time Jolley Trolley will get you there in beach style. This inexpensive shuttle service operates on a regular schedule throughout the summer months and is a popular way to get safely from home along Highway 1 where the boisterous nightlife often spills out into the streets.

We all know skiing can be very expensive. Even those of us who live in Colorado ski towns often have to scramble around to secure reasonable prices on our own turf. Some destinations have reputations that lure families and groups with incredibly affordable deals.

However, some of the more famous resorts, like Aspen, have the opposite reputation. It is considered glamorous and glitzy and the prices reflect it. It’s at the end of the road and can be difficult to get to, as well. But Aspen does offer some of the absolutely best skiing in the entire world and everyone who skis owes it to themselves to splurge on a ski vacation in Aspen at least once.

Some of the best ski areas I’ve ever been to are those undiscovered, hometown-syyle?gems that your friends have never heard of. They only get a quick mention once a year in the big ski magazines and then fade back into obscurity again.
These are the true snowlover’s mountains. These are the?mountains where more of the snow sliders are local season pass holders than destination vacationers.
These are the mountains where the kids playing hooky on powder days are there with their moms and dads, who are also playing hooky.
These are the mountains that every kid in town knows like the back of their hand and where nearly every adult has worked at one time or another when they needed?the respite of a?season in the snow.

The Rocky Mountains of Colorado offer many good resorts to choose from. Some favorites include

Telluride, Vail and Breckenridge. Telluride Ski Resort was built in the 1970’s and along with it came cultural events, festivals, music and more. People come to this town year after year for the wonderful skiing and other fun activities.
If skiing is what you are all about, Vail is the place to go! It has just been named number 1 for the 14th time in 19 years in Ski Magazine’s “Top 50 Resort Guide”. Vail offers world class skiing, fabulous nightlife and many fine dining options.

Taking the family on a winter skiing vacation can be a daunting task - sometimes finding a destination that everyone agrrees on is the hardest part. Use our ideas below to help you plan your next winter getaway!
Many resorts offer a plethora of activities for you and your family. While you are skiing fresh powder, your children can be supervised by a certified ski instructor while enrolled in ski school. After that lesson, you can meet up with them and they will be happy to show you what they learned. When the day ends, be sure to explore the town. Ski towns are notorious for some of the best shopping and fine dining. If you want to take a day off from skiing to catch your breath, try ice skating, toboggan runs or just sit by a fire with a good book. When it comes time to plan a ski vacation, try to plan at least 5 to 6 months ahead of time. This is when you can find the best deals and you shouldn’t have to worry about the hotel you want to stay in, completely booked. I have found that a little research goes a long way. After you choose your hotel, see if they have any packages or specials available. Most of the time hotels and resorts will offer a bit of a discount on lift tickets and other activities. If a special or package is not available, make sure to buy your lift tickets in bulk to save some money. Try to buy a 3 or 4 day pass versus buying individual tickets each day. Often times, these lift tickets will be good for more than 1 resort in the area.
