Palm Springs By Night

After the desert sun goes down over San Jacinto Mountain, Palm Springs really heats up. The nightlife is colorful, diverse and exciting with a casually elegant vibe that’s all California.

Hunters is a trendy club with spirited DJs, go go dancers  and a pounding dance floor that gets busier and wilder as the night goes on. While the party’s getting started, play billards, surf the ‘net or lounge on the finely misted outdoor terrace with a happy hour special. It’s all good.

The Oasis has charismatic DJs running an amazing sound system, two bars, an indoor courtyard, a game room, theme nights, a piano bar with sing a longs, and perhaps the biggest dance floor you’ve ever seen.  And The Oasis stays open until 4 am!

Guy Fawkes Night, UK

Guy Fawkes Night, UK

Britain is a country that many tourists talk about, notably for its horrendous weather, cream tea, and of course the British “stiff upper lip.” Yet over this weekend nothing will dampen the moods of its residents, because the annual Guy Fawkes Night celebrations will be taking place at venues all over the country.

Guy Fawkes Night, also known as Bonfire Night or Fireworks Night, is an age-long British tradition celebrating the foiling of the Gunpowder Plot, an attempt to assassinate the Protestant King James I of England. Led by Robert Catesby, a group of Catholic conspirators planned to implant and detonate a series of explosives in the Palace of Westminster on the evening of November 5th 1605, when the King and most of the English Parliament were inside the building. Guy Fawkes, the protagonist of today’s festival, was in charge of preparing the explosives. However, the plot was discovered at the last minute and Fawkes, with many others, was tortured and executed. November 5th, what would have been the day of the assassination, is nowadays a night of celebration and fireworks for the British, although many events take place on the weekend surrounding this date.

Last Night of the BBC Proms 2007

Over the last eight weeks, people across Britain have enjoyed a wonderful series of classical concerts and other events associated with the largest classical music festival in the world, all brought to the stage by the very best performers. But alas, all good things have to come to an end. Not to worry though, because this Saturday will see the traditional season-ending final?, the Last Night of the Proms 2007.
Held at the Royal Albert Hall in London, the Last Night is arguably one of the most classical music concerts in the world. Not only are tickets for the concert highly sought-after (and often sold out), an audience of millions across the globe tune in on the TV or radio. For those lucky enough to get tickets, it is a fine opportunity to see the British at their patriotic best; many “Prommers” arrive at the venue dressed in Union Jack T-shirts, proudly waving the British flag when the traditional piece Rule Britannia is performed.

Park City: Dining and Nightlife

Park City: Dining and Nightlife

Park City lodging choices are numerous and diverse. Hotels, condos, private residence clubs and private homes are the most popular choices for travelers. Hotels can be found slope side or in the heart of the downtown area. Each hotel offers something a little bit different depending on how much you would like to spend. You will be able to find small budget hotels or very expensive high class luxury hotels. The high class hotels are well worth the money. From the moment you walk through the lobby doors, you will not have to worry about a thing. After staying at one of these types of hotels, you will never want to stay anywhere else. Another Park City lodging choice for large groups or families would be a condo rental or a private residence club. A condo rental can be a great choice for a family. Many times condo rentals don’t offer the full services of a hotel or a private residence club but offer full kitchens and all the main ingredients to make your family trip memorable and more affordable. Private Residence Clubs are becoming the lodging choice of the future. These clubs can offer 2, 3 and four bedrooms suites in large complexes. These can be quite luxuries with a full staff including concierge, bell staff, ski valet, and sometimes twice daily maid service. A private residence club can be a great choice for a family getaway.
