Are you tired of the crowds and high rise developments along the beach? Do you long for a quiet stretch of white sand where you can relax in solitude? Then, travel to The Forgotten Coast of Florida for the beach vacation of your dreams.
The Forgotten Coast is the area in the crook of the Florida panhandle (also know as the Big Bend) that spans the pristine coastline from St Marks Lighthouse on the east to Mexico Beach on the west. Along the way are Port St Joe, Cape San Blas, Apalachicola, Carrabelle, Eastpoint, St George Island, Lanark Village and other obscure small towns and barrier islands.

Travelers to Asia know the feeling.
A hundred pairs of eyes bear down on you, judging you, observing you. As a foreigner, you’re a tourist, a D-level celebrity, a possible criminal and a source of information on foreign affairs. You’re simply different.

Fort Clinch is a military base that dates back to 1847 and saw action in both the Civil and Spanish-American wars. Amelia Island is now a vacation destination for anyone looking for coastal enjoyment and seclusion. It was the curious name that piqued my interest in this destination. What is a kettle moraine and why would they name a forest after it? The unusual name is a geological term describing the terrain in the area that was scoured by glaciers during one of the last ice ages. The kettles, or depressions, were caused when buried ice melted and left hundreds of ponds and lakes in their places.
Then, I looked at the map and became even more curious. Here in Colorado, our forests are epic in size, but this Wisconsin State Forest is strung out into 5 different small sections that span a hundred miles. The Kettle Moraine Scenic Drive is the thread that stitches them all together as it winds through southeastern Wisconsin.
