Summer’s the peak season for taking a trip. Every year, when the days start to heat up, it’s a perfect time to go somewhere new – whether to a sun-drenched beach on a distant shore, or a uniquely creative vision in a darkened theater.
Movies have the power to inspire, to take us on a trip without requiring us to get off the couch.
A scene from “O Brother Where Art Thou?”
One traveling garden gnome. A star-crossed couple on a sinking ocean liner. Eleven crooks on a European heist. And Bond??James Bond.
These are just four of the travelers who didn’t make it onto our roundup of the twenty greatest travel films of all time. Not because we didn’t like Amelie, Titanic, Ocean’s 11 or the Bond movies, mind you, but because we just didn’t have the space.

You may have heard about the new book from Naomi Klein (author of No Logo) recently published, titled “The Shock Doctrine.” This short film offers a compelling argument about her idea.
“When I finished The Shock Doctrine, I sent it to Alfonso Cuar??n because I adore his films and felt that the future he created for Children of Men was very close to the present I was seeing in disaster zones. I was hoping he would send me a quote for the book jacket and instead he pulled together this amazing team of artists — including Jon??s Cuar??n who directed and edited — to make The Shock Doctrine short film. It was one of those blessed projects where everything felt fated.” - Naomi Klein
