I’m in Nicaragua, wearing a new swimsuit, paddling away from a deserted beach.
I graduated college with a hankering to travel. A contact in Nicaragua offered me free room and board to teach English, with a bonus of daily surf lessons.

Anywhere that is close to a major city usually gets the overflow of what the city has to offer. In this case, Worcester, Massachusetts is just one of those places. Being the second largest city and within an hour of Boston, Hartford and Providence and only three hours from New York City Worcester has all of the fine dining, lodging and activities that any major city could provide. Worcester is also home to 13 colleges that give the town a younger feel.

Internet cafes can be dangerous places. Here’s how to keep your information safe.

Whether sending email, uploading photos, booking flights and hotels, paying the bills back home, and checking the status of a bank account, travelers use the internet for a huge variety of tasks.
The ubiquity of internet cafes around the world has made this convenience possible.

The decision to travel with our children was not one my husband and I took lightly. We both had always wanted to travel, but I was too scared to take the leap of faith.
As parents we wanted our children to experience what the world had to offer.
Our family had also been through an extremely tough time before our trip. We had experienced death and change on a profound scale, and our marriage had only just managed to survive.

I rarely make a trip that’s anywhere near the water without taking a boat ride of some sort. There’s no substitute for cruising on a paddle wheeler across Lake Tahoe, paddling a sea kayak in Baja or casting over the rail on fishing party boat at the Jersey Shore.

If you’re anything like me, you’ll love Destin, Florida, where you can enjoy boating of all kinds. In fact, in Destin you could go from one unique boat trip to another from dawn until dusk.

Self-catering is an essential element in any backpacker’s budget strategy.
You can control how often you move from city to city and where you stay en route, and of course you can restrict the cost and number of your daytime activities as needed.
But you have to eat, and that’s not going to change no matter how much cash is left in your account.

F. Daniel Harbecke tackles the traveler/tourist debate that never seems to die, and finally puts the issue to a much deserved rest.
“Tourist.”
It hung heavy on the air, swollen with contempt. It wasn??t a bad word, at least as far as I knew. Yet here it was, shoved against the scene just occurred.

This New Year??s, I was horrified to read in The Hindustan Times that in Mumbai, India, outside of the JW Marriot Hotel, two women were felt up and groped by a mob of seventy men on the open street as their companions looked on helplessly.
The photograph on the front of the paper, showing the perpetrators piled up on top of the women, instilled in me a sense of outrage that I have not felt since I was in Thailand, and was assaulted by a mototaxi driver as I attempted to go to a job interview alone.

Traveling opens us; opens our eyes, our minds, our hearts and our souls. When on the road, we want every experience to jump inside us, and perhaps even change us. This is one of the most addicting aspects of travel.
It becomes very easy to meet other people who are just as open and excited about the world as you are. This openness easily facilitates very genuine, romantic relationships to form between travelers.
