Being a disabled traveler involves challenges many others don’t have to face. But is movement getting easier or harder for disabled travelers to move around?

I work in the publishing industry, and I’m also an avid reader - so it’s no wonder I??™ve been knee deep in Kindle speculation for the past few weeks.
Kindle is Amazon??™s new portable reading device; it??™s smaller and lighter than a book and it holds over 200 titles.
Other companies have launched similar, relatively unsuccessful products in the past but Kindle??™s connection to bookselling giant Amazon is making people wonder whether this could be the device that actually redefines how we read.

It was a sunny Sunday afternoon in Corte Madera, California, at the closing ceremonies of the Book Passage Travel Writers and Photographers Conference.
I was working on my fourth glass of complimentary champagne and talking to Matthew Polly, a faculty member and author of the travel/kung fu memoir, American Shaolin.
“Playboy!” I was saying, waving my glass for emphasis. “I don’t think I could even go into a store and buy a Playboy, let alone aspire to write for them someday.”

For me, luxury travel usually means little more than clean sheets, hot water and black coffee in the morning. Camping on a beach or staying with local villagers makes me just as happy as sipping a cocktail next to an elegantly landscaped plunge pool.
But even though vagabonding travelers like me have been known to sneer at expensive luxury resorts and dismiss their pampered guests as out of touch with reality, I recognize that the luxury travel experience, done well, can be a beautiful thing.
