Williamsburg, VA ~ Visit where American History comes to Life

Williamsburg, VA ~ Visit where American History comes to Life

Williamsburg, Virginia is a great place to take the whole family due to several things.  Those reasons being Busch Gardens Amusement Park, Colonial Williamsburg, and the neighboring historic towns of Jamestown and Yorktown.  This is where America was born over 200 years ago after the Revolutionary War.

Now, every child loves amusement parks especially for the rides.  Busch Gardens of Williamsburg has been nominated the world’s “most beautiful theme park” for 17 straight years.  There are over 50 exhilarating rides to go on with one being called “Griffon”.  It is the world’s tallest floorless dive coaster that drops over 200 feet straight down and gets up to 70 mph!  Roller coasters were not made to do that when I was a kid.  Besides the rides, there are shows, animal attractions, historical and educational resources and dining options just to name a few.  Adults (ages 10 and up) can have fun in the park for about $60/day per person and any child ages 3 to 9 get in for about $50 for the day.  Be sure to check out Busch Gardens during your stay in Williamsburg!

How I Made Peace With My American Identity

Turns out not everyone loves Americans. For Rachel Friedman, the shock of seeing her nation from abroad led to feelings of betrayal, denial and awakening.

How I Made Peace With My American Identity

My first solo trip abroad was less than a year after 9/11.

Life in the U.S. was still tense, especially on the East coast, where I was a junior in college.

Airports were enveloped in almost sanctuary-like silence. While I waited to board my flight to Dublin I watched people remove shoes and sweaters and belts.

A Manifesto From A Young American

A Manifesto From A Young American

Today I ended my hypocrisy. Today I made a step towards moral and existential sanity. Today I stopped supporting a malevolent, inhuman and amoral force.

Today I sold my stock in multinational corporations.

Let me back up a moment. Two years ago, freshly graduated from an East Coast status enclave, I took a job in Japan, where I lived in a mountain community that is rapidly fading into a coal mine ghost town.
