When the principal attraction of a trip is looking at other people’s lives, there’s a fine line between human interest and human zoo.

While much of Africa is best known for its stunning wildlife and superlative National Parks, Ethiopia’s main travel draws are scenic natural beauty and fascinating people.
Therefore, it seemed only natural that when our overland trip passed through Ethiopia, we took a detour to the Omo Valley, an area rich in colorful tribes.

Stepping into bars, alone and in foreign climes, can be intimidating. Break the ice with these tips.

Recently I was talking to a female friend of mine - a friend who is incredibly gutsy when it comes to solo travel.
We were talking about my bar-hopping habit when I travel solo, and she mentioned how impressed she was by my ability to wander into a local drinking hole on the road and make myself at home.

Losing your passport or bank cards on the road sucks. Not having the numbers accessible sucks even more.

For most of us our day to day life takes place in our homes, apartments and offices.
Each of these locations contain pretty much everything we own, need to survive and identify who we are. Somehow though, when we travel we are able to condense all these ???essentials??? into one or two small bags, carry them on our shoulders and hoist them onto trains.

Off-the-radar activities are just the way to attract the attention of fellow romantic travelers.

I met Mia in New Zealand, while on a bus that was taking us sky diving. I was only along to take photos for my friends, for I had gone skydiving twice before and wanted to save some money.
The initial spark between us was ignited before we arrived at our destination.

Internet cafes can be dangerous places. Here’s how to keep your information safe.

Whether sending email, uploading photos, booking flights and hotels, paying the bills back home, and checking the status of a bank account, travelers use the internet for a huge variety of tasks.
The ubiquity of internet cafes around the world has made this convenience possible.

Being a disabled traveler involves challenges many others don’t have to face. But is movement getting easier or harder for disabled travelers to move around?
I once worked with a man named Victor. We forged a friendship that was contingent upon a shared penchant for searing social criticism, ironic humor, and good food, (though not necessarily in that order).

I have dreams of peddling leisurely through endless fields of blooming tulips. Windmills dot the horizon and water is always close by. Yes, I could go to Holland to satisfy this vacation fantasy or I could get a really authentic taste of tulip time in Holland, Michigan.
The settlement was established by a group of Dutch families in 1847 and hundreds followed them soon afterwards. Every fiber of Holland Michigan is steeped in Dutch heritage, so this is the real deal and not a marketing gimmick to bring in tourists.
Downtown Holland has an historic, yet vibrant feel, with street performers, art galleries, interesting shopping, plenty of great restaurants and frequent festivals. Without a doubt, the most celebrated annual event is Tulip Tme Festival!

Cape Hatteras has a huge variety of land, sea, and air fun in the sun that is sure to keep the whole family engaged, entertained and exhausted while vacationing in the Outer Banks?
The on-island towns and villages offer so much to see and do - a week or two almost isn’t enough time to see it all. Try one, two or all of the following:

First things first. I didn??t actually read The Geography of Bliss.
I wanted to, and I wanted to like it; I really did. The simplicity and crisp color of the cover drew me in when I first saw it in the bookstore, as did the author??s premise.
He would spend a year traveling to ten countries in search of something that was, for him, as elusive as the Fountain of Youth: happiness.
