Wedding season arrives with a flourish in June each year and celebrating the union of family members or friends is often the impetus for summer travel.
If you’re very, very lucky, you may get an invitation to attend a Long Island wedding at The Inn at Fox Hollow this year. The famed Gold Coast of Long Island in New York was a favored retreat of the rich, famous and powerful in the early 20th century and Fox Hollow carries on the tradition of that opulent era with sophistication and elegance.
Joyce Majors has accomplished one of the things I??™ve been dreaming about my whole life (well, two if you count the whole writing a book thing).
This intrepid woman rented her house, quit her job and took off for a year of volunteer tourism around the world.
Majors’ travels provided a much-needed break from the rigors of ???real life??? and eventually provided fodder for her book Smiling at the World, which chronicles her year abroad and the experiences she encountered in her search for adventure and love.
Television news bombards us daily with images of global destruction, famine, disease, and wars.
No wonder we despair at the future mankind is forging for itself, one filled with hopelessness and religious fanatics hiding behind guns.
However, what the news does not show is a modified trend amongst the citizens of the world - a transfer from salvation to liberation; a change in mindset and taking responsibility, teaching other like-minded individuals by example.
If you enjoy travel photography, a good logical step is to try and make money from your hobby. Selling your photographs takes time and dedication, but it is possible.

Harry P. Leu grew up in Orlando, Florida and later became a successful businessman. Together, with his wife Mary Jane, he settled on an 1898 farmhouse and began to transform it. He traveled extensively with his wife all around the world to collect specimens of exotic plants and began planting them on his estate, thus creating Leu Gardens. They resided at that farmhouse until 1961, when they finally donated the gardens to the city of Orlando. However, they created a stipulation that their land be made available to the public. Today, in the center of Leu Gardens, there stands the Leu House Museum, which is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

So I’ve never been to Florida but I think the ONE thing I want to see when I go is a Manatee. It just amazes me how huge and graceful they are. The video below is taken by one of the keepers at the Parker Manatee Aquarium in Bradenton, FL. Bradenton is located just across the bay from Anna Maria Island which I’ve heard offers great beaches and a nice retreat when compared to the more lively large cities of Bradenton and Sarasota.
